EEC Lincolne Scott was appointed as Structural and Geotechnical Engineers for the new headquarters, administration and exhibition offices at their existing dairy milk production facility in Vietnam.
The development is a 2 to 3-storey building in the form of a horseshoe, with a sloping roof slab ramping from ground level up to the full height roof level.
The approximate GFA is just over 6,000 m2, excluding the roof areas.
The functions provided include high loaded areas for archive and library as well as trade marketing and exhibition space, plus the usual office, canteen, kitchen and sports/recreational facilities.
The key issue was to enable a flexible and economic structural design solution to accommodate the ranges of different loading conditions while maintaining simplicity for construction and buildability. This was more challenging given the building form in a horseshoe.
The solution was to adopt a flat slab design, which could be varied in depth and reinforcement to suit the different floor loadings and yet also was repetitive which enable simple and convenient reinforcement detailing.
